I'm writing this blog because I have exercised, dieted, cheated, moaned, groaned, grunted, screamed, and sweated my ass off to get here, and I'm still doing it.  And I want to share the joys and miseries of working at fitness with others.  One thing I want everyone to know is that I'm not perfect.  I may be fit now ("Fit" is my husband's term.  I once asked him if I looked like an athlete.  In a smart man-move by neither confirming nor denying this statement, he said, "You look fit."), but I wasn't always:


That was me circa 2003.  On top of all the me you see, I also had a two pack-a-day smoking habit.

One day I woke up after going to bed at 3 A.M. (waking up at about 2 P.M. the next day) and felt like complete and total crap.  I blobbed that body to the bathroom to take a shower, and, after getting undressed, took a good, long look in the mirror at my ugly shrieking nakedness--because I hadn't looked at my naked body in about 5 years.

I was frightened.  And repulsed.  What The HELL had I been doing??  I got on the scale and promptly had a freakout-meltdown-cryfest.  It read 217 pounds.  At 5'8", that's a lot of woman.  Too much woman.

I resolved right then and there that things would change.  Mainly because it was summer and I was sick and tired of sweating in-between my rolls of back fat.  And because I knew how to live healthily (I am a freaking Biology teacher, for crying out loud)--I just had to get the ball rolling and put it into action.

So I did.  I just began to eat smart(er).  I cut out the 8-10 sodas a day, began to cook my own food, eat smaller portions, and exercise at least 15 minutes a day.  (Remember when Tae Bo was, like, new?  Remember that beginner workout ol' Billy Blanks made that only lasted 26 minutes?  Yeah, it kicked my sweet patootie all over my living room.  I woke up the next day accusing my husband of beating me in my sleep with the largest stick he could find. But I got up and did it again the next day.  And the next...)

I've come a long way since that start.

This blog is about my journey to how I got to where I am now, and the current journey I'm on to stay that way.  But mostly it's about the workouts I do every day and my facetious comments about them, fitness, and life in general.
